Contact Animal Control |
| |
Contact the Animal Control Officer (ACO) in the Town
where the animal was found. (Click
here for a list of ACOs.) In Putnam County, contact
Putnam Valley Dog Control Officer, Patti Smith at 845-526-3293.
The ACO will come and get the animal. (Most ACOs do
not pick up cats.) Try to find out where the ACO is
taking the pet so if we locate the owner, we will know
where to find it.
If you have found a cat and wish to have a local
animal shelter or pet rescue take her, you must
first call them to set up an appointment. If they do
not have room for the cat, ask to be placed on their
waitlist. If the cat is not spayed/neutered, please
consider getting it done. Click
here to find Westchester and Putnam low-cost spay neuter
clinics/resources. Anything you can do to help reduce
the stray cat population is GREATLY appreciated and
is an act of kindness that benefits all of our local
animals.
